David personality type is INTJ, and many of them do indeed enjoy working in industries such as technology, science, economics, etc. However, they don’t want to work at places like Google or Facebook. They would much rather work at places that are less exclusive, more transparent, and more meritocratic.
In a way, they want to be Uber drivers. They want to work for themselves and make their own hours. They want to be in charge of their own career. They want to make things happen.
They enjoy being entrepreneurs and they aspired to start their own company as well. They have a passion for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship is an intrinsic part of their personality.
They would much rather start their own company than take a job at Google or Facebook.
This is why I’ve often said that the “real” Silicon Valley is in Seattle because Seattle has a culture of entrepreneurship. It doesn’t have to be some sort of hippie town that likes to complain about inequality and racism, it just needs to be a good place for everyone to succeed.
