The 3 wing is the same as the 4 wing, but in a different perspective. What IS the 4 wing? The 4 wing is the need to be different. It’s what we do when we go into groups of people. We identify with the group and are curious about what makes them tick. We are drawn to people who are different from us because we think they are interesting. The function of the 4 wing is to keep the 3 wing from becoming too narrow. If the 3 wing becomes too narrow, then the 4 wing is lost, and we can become ADDs, or worse, ENTJs.
The 4 wing looks for new things and people, but it’s not really that interested in people. It’s just interested in keeping up with what’s new and different. So it wants to know what’s new and different, but really doesn’t want to know about someone because it doesn’t want to know how that person differs from itself. If we are talking about the personality types, this is the opposite of the introverted thinking type of feeling.
