I would just like to point out that I was not speaking of the "over-rationalizing" approach to life that many INTPs do use. I am just using the word "nonsense" because, for me, it is a way of saying that they are making things up, not taking anything seriously.
INTPs are often the most creative, original thinkers of all of the types. They may be quiet people or even shy, but they are also natural innovators and inventors. They live in a world of abstract ideas and possibilities, and they have a very difficult time dealing with concrete details.
INTPs often have a hard time with politics, for exactly the same reason they have a hard time dealing with details: politics is a system of relationships and concrete details, and INTPs have a very difficult time with relationships and concrete details.
In this sense, they are deeply impractical, and have a hard time seeing the value in people who would not be as innovative as they are. They have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to remain in a system that is not as flexible as theirs.
