    Jean-Claude Michéa (born in 1950) is a retired philosophy professor and French philosopher, author of several essays on the thought and work of George Orwell[1].

    A libertarian socialist,[2] he is known for his committed positions against the mainstream of the left, which, according to him, has lost all spirit of anti-capitalist struggle to give way to the "religion of progress."[3]
