I think he's actually really good as that guy. He's not as bad as I think some people want to think he is. He's not as "evil" as some people want to believe. He's just a guy who believes in the system, but is not willing to go along with it. He just has this kind of "I know what's wrong and I'm going to do it anyway" thing going on, and he's on a mission to stop them once and for all. Which is actually good, because it takes the story out of the realm of fantasy and gives it a kind of realism.
It kind of takes the whole idea away that the "heroes" are just another super power, or that they're just people who were just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. They're just regular people with bad things done to them in their past who are trying to stop someone who wants to do bad things to hundreds of others. It makes them human, and it makes them relatable.
