For the sake of simplicity, I will refer to Damore’s personality type as INTP. According to the book “The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)” by Isabel Briggs Myers, there are 4 different types of people in the world: ESTJ, ISTJ, INTJ, and INTP. There are three different classifications of these types, based on the degree of extroversion/introversion—the more introverted person is less extroverted than the more extroverted one. For example, if you were an ESTJ, you would be more extroverted than an ISTJ. If you were an INTP, you would be less extroverted than an INTJ.
What the book describes is that people are classified into four different functional groups, describing how they use their function as a preference for different tasks. For example, an ESTJ might be a good student who likes to learn by reading and studying, whereas an INTJ might be a good speaker who enjoys lecturing and debating.
