Forest of Feelings
In the Forest of Feelings series, the Abyzou are the third race to be introduced. They are described as being similar to Humans but with a more animalistic appearance. As opposed to the Human/Elf hybrid, the Abyzou are pure animals, living in groups of four or five, and only wearing their animal skins. They also seem to have enhanced senses. They can see in the dark and hear better than Humans, for example. Their eyes glow an eerie green when they are angry or enraged. They are referred to as "the Wanderer" by the other races, which means they wander through the forest, but they do not stay in one place for long.
The Abyzou are said to be the children of the original Forest Dwellers, but they are not pure animals at all. They are actually half-elves, half-humans.
In the myth and folklore of the Near East and Europe, Abyzou is the name of a female demon. Abyzou was blamed for miscarriages and infant mortality and was said to be motivated by envy (Greek: φθόνος phthonos), as she herself was infertile. In the Jewish tradition, she is identified with Lilith, in Coptic Egypt with Alabasandria, and in Byzantine culture with Gylou, but in various texts surviving from the syncretic magical practice of antiquity and the early medieval era she is said to have many or virtually innumerable names.Abyzou (also spelled Abizou, Obizu, Obizuth, Obyzouth, Byzou etc.) is pictured on amulets with fish- or serpent-like attributes.
