    Claude Cahun was a French poet and artist associated with Surrealism. She was a member of the Bloomsbury Group, and wrote novels, poetry, and plays. Her most famous books are Les Portes de la Nuit (1922; "The Gates of Night"), published by Jean Schlumberger, and La Corde et le Flocon (1931; "The Cord and the Blossom"), published by Pierre de Ronsard. The other best-known book is Les Mots étrangers (1928; "The Foreign Words").

    Claude Cahun's art was included in the Surrealist exhibition at the Galerie Pierre in 1925. She had major solo exhibitions in Paris, then in Stockholm in 1943, and in Berlin in 1951. She was also included in the Surrealist exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, from 1935 to 1936.

    Claude Cahun was a writer of novels, poetry and plays. Her first book, Les Voix intérieures (1922; "The Voices Within"), was published by Jean Schlumberger.

    Claude Cahun (25 October 1894 – 8 December 1954), born Lucy Renee Mathilde Schwob, was a French photographer, sculptor and writer. Schwob adopted the gender-ambiguous name Claude Cahun in 1917 and is best known for self-portraits, in which she assumed a variety of personae.
