Momo Nishimiya personality type is INFP, so she’s never been particularly happy with how things work in her family. At the beginning of the series, her father is a workaholic, her mother is an aspiring novelist, and her older brother is a high school dropout who plays video games all the time. Momo has some great scenes where she speaks up for herself and stands up to her parents about some of their values, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that her whole family is dysfunctional.
And then she meets Yusuke.
The book itself is one of the best I’ve read in a while, but the character development in it is somewhat lacking. Momo is a relatively passive character, and although she does have some good scenes, she really doesn’t get much characterization until the second half of the book.
But this is an anime, so of course there are some great scenes where she gets to practice being more assertive with Yusuke.
This was an anime about a high school girl who’s super shy and indecisive, but her friend convinces her to get over it and start living. And then they get together.
