River Song personality type is ENTJ, while the Doctor's "rescue" of The Doctor from the Paternoster Gang is an INTJ. In the Doctor's case, the Paternoster Gang is a reflection of his own darker side. One of the Paternoster Gang's slogans is "The Doctor will have his way," which reflects the Doctor's own attitude that "the Doctor always gets his way." At times, this can be jarring, but most of the time it is simply funny. This is why most people tend to like the character of The Doctor. They like his sarcastic humor and quick-thinking mind.
