    INTP (5w4)

The Residents personality type is INTP, and if you've been following their recent sexy-times on twitter, you might have noticed that there's a lot of time spent on the internet.

In their professional lives, The Residents see themselves as "technology-free artists." They spend most of their time either immersed in their studio, or in the library of a Japanese castle. The former sounds pretty boring, and the latter sounds pretty amazing.

    What do they do?

The Residents make music. They make it weird. And they make it backwards.

As I understand it, there are four people who make up The Residents:

Michael Spagnuolo (aka The Spooky One). He's the oldest resident by at least 20 years, and he's also the most prolific of the four. He's the guy who got the whole thing started, and he's the one who makes all the music. He composes everything by himself, and produces all of his records in his own studio in San Francisco. He's also the only one with a day job: he works as a software engineer at Adobe.

    (aka The Spooky One).

The Residents are an American art collective best known for their avant-garde music and multimedia works. Since their first official release, Meet the Residents, they have released over 60 albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects, and ten DVDs. They have undertaken seven major world tours and scored multiple films. Pioneers in exploring the potential of CD-ROM and similar technologies, the Residents have won several awards for their multimedia projects. They founded Ralph Records, a record label focusing on avant-garde music, in 1972. Throughout the group's existence, the individual members have ostensibly attempted to work anonymously, preferring to have attention focused on their art. Much speculation and rumor has focused on this aspect of the group. In public, they appear silent and costumed, often wearing eyeball helmets, top hats and tails—a costume now recognized as their signature iconography.
