    Odysseas Elytis personality type is INFJ, which means that they are introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging. Elytis was born in Smyrna (now Izmir) in 1922. He was raised in Athens by his parents. His father was an officer in the Greek army who was deeply affected by the Greco-Turkish war in 1922, which ended with Greece’s defeat. His father served for 20 years in the army and fought in the Gallipoli campaign. He was eventually released because of his poor health and returned to Athens, where he died when Elytis was still a teenager.

    Elytis’s mother, who became an English teacher after she married, was very supportive of her son’s creative pursuits. She introduced Elytis to the classics by translating Homer into English. He also read Proust, Balzac, Balzacs, Flaubert, Conrad, Chekhov, and Dickens. In 1936 he joined the National Theatre School in Athens, where he studied acting and directing. He also studied poetry at the University of Athens, where he graduated with a degree in Philosophy.

    Odysseas Elytis (Greek: Οδυσσέας Ελύτης [oðiˈseas eˈlitis], pen name of Odysseus Alepoudellis, Greek: Οδυσσέας Αλεπουδέλλης; 2 November 1911 – 18 March 1996) was a Greek poet, essayist and translator, regarded as a major exponent of romantic modernism in Greece and the world. He is one of the most praised poets of the second half of the twentieth century. In 1979, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
