For those of you who know me, you know that I have been a huge fan of Avatar comics. The franchise just celebrated its 10th anniversary, which makes it a pretty good starting point for a discussion of the character's development.
Let's go over the basics first.
Guan Yu is a legendary Chinese warrior and a prominent figure in Chinese folk religion. He is usually depicted as a brave and loyal general who fights for the opposing party in a civil war. He is sometimes called "the Hero with a Thousand Faces" because of his many appearances in different media. In terms of personality, Guan Yu is an ESTJ type. In modern times, he is often portrayed as a character who is proud and righteous and has a strong sense of chivalry and honor. He is also stubborn and opinionated and is sometimes shown as having a temper and as being proud and proudful — but still honorable — and loyal to friends and allies.
