The Galactic Empire has also colonized some planets outside the Imperial borders, including Naboo, Kashyyyk, Geonosis and others.
Emperor Palpatine came up with the new Galactic Empire so he would be able to rule all of the galaxy. He had no patience for anyone who disagreed with him. The only people who were loyal to him were his own family members.

Much of the Galactic Empire is procedure-driven and regimented, swearing undying loyalty to the Emperor. Enforced by the Sith Lord, Darth Vader, the Galactic Empire despises failure dealing out the appropriate punishment without delay. This has led to the exile, torture and execution of many incapable members over the years.
