The second time we see her in action, she’s finding the solution to the problem of not being able to find any evidence of the missing people. The key to the puzzle is that she’s starting to figure out how to use her observational skills to their fullest extent, so it’s a matter of seeing how she goes about gathering information.
In episode 2, she’s still new on the job, so she makes an off-hand comment about how it’s pointless for them to look for bodies because there are too many of them. She’s completely unaware that she’s said something odd at the time, but we’ll come back to this later.
The third time we see her in action is when she goes out into the field. She sees the body and is horrified. She has no idea what she’s looking at, so she calls her partner over to ask him what it is.
