The soft-spoken Makowski didn't even want to talk about himself before accepting a position as a coaching assistant with the United States' under-18 team. The only thing Makowski wanted to talk about was hockey, and specifically the fact he'd be playing with his brother on a line for the first time.
"I'm not going to beat around the bush," Makowski said. "It's been a long time since I've been able to play with him at the same time. It's been almost five years since we played together, so it's been a long time coming."
The brothers have been playing in the same league in New Jersey for the last five years, but in different cities.
