Fleamont Potter personality type is ENFJ, and I’m not a big fan of starting communication with my parents with telling them what a great job I am doing or that I’ve got a lot to offer them.
I like to start with a big, “Hey, I’m doing well.” That way you get a nice, open “How are you?” in response. If the “How are you?” is followed with, “I should be asking you that question! How are YOU?” that’s just fine. I’ll take it as a compliment from the loving parent that I am.
I also like to use a phrase like “I think I’m doing OK/I’m doing great.” Those two phrases are very much in the same vein and will get you the same response. They’re both soft and easy to hear.
The reason why I don’t like starting with the “job success” stuff is that I don’t want my parents to think I’m announcing to the world that I have a great job.
