Alex Chilton personality type is ISFP, which is my favorite type. I have loved being able to have an ongoing relationship with this character ever since the late 80s when my sister bought me the first Big Star compilation album. I was living in Massachusetts at the time, but I drove down to Los Angeles for the record store day just to get that album. Since then I have become a huge fan of this band and have followed their career ever since. I have listened to their albums over and over again.
I’m really looking forward to the new Alamo Records release of their early catalog, which will come in a 2-CD set. I am really excited to see what the band sounds like in the studio after all these years. I hope they are able to recapture their sound in the recording process. I also hope that they are able to find a balance between what they recorded in the 60s, when they were in their prime, and their later recordings in the 80s, when they were in their decline.
I can’t wait to hear what they sound like in 2016.
William Alexander Chilton (December 28, 1950 – March 17, 2010) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer, best known as the lead singer of the Box Tops and Big Star. Chilton's early commercial success in the 1960s as a teen vocalist for the Box Tops was never repeated in later years with Big Star and in his subsequent indie music solo career on small labels, but he drew an intense following among indie and alternative music musicians. He is frequently cited as a seminal influence by influential rock artists and bands, some of whose testimonials appeared in the 2012 documentary Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me.
