From its opening frame, Negation #0 takes ownership of its premise. The introduction to the cast is immediate and intimate, as we meet Quinlan’s wife, who is about to start her first day at work after having their second child. The last panel of her leaving for work, with the text “And like that she’s gone,” is almost poetic in its simplicity, and it’s a great way to let us know that this is not your typical superhero comic. We don’t get a team-up or a hero’s origin story or any of that nonsense; this is Quinlan Vos’ story, told through his experiences as a father and husband.
