I don’t know about you, but I like this.
As a child I was fascinated by maps, and knew which continents were on and which were off before I could read. I was fascinated with the planetariums in the local libraries and took on quests to find out where stars were. My mother would [rather] give me a map than the magic book that would transport me to the planetarium. I had a large, framed map of the world above my desk for many years, and my model of the solar system was very accurate.
I would love to have a map of the world in my brain.
I have a very vivid memory of sitting in a car with my father on our way to a conference in a city outside of Seattle, Washington. We were driving down a freeway when my father looked out the window and said, “You know, I just realized that we have been traveling over the entire American continent.” I had been sitting next to him, and had been looking at the map on the dash.
