Privacy is a myth. In the real world, privacy is a luxury, not a right. In fact, privacy is one of the biggest issues in the modern world. We all have been conditioned to believe that privacy is something we can’t live without when in reality, privacy is a myth.
Let’s say I’m a famous actor in Hollywood and I want to go away for a while. I can go anywhere in the world I want, but the minute I step into that hotel room or airplane seat, I’m no longer anonymous. The second I set foot in that hotel room, there are pictures of me on every TV, every computer. If I get into an airplane seat, it doesn’t matter where I’m at, there are pictures of me everywhere. So the real world is open for me, but when I get into my hotel room, I am anonymous.
Kevin David Mitnick (born August 6, 1963) is an American computer security consultant, author, and hacker, best known for his high-profile 1995 arrest and five years later in prison for various computer and communications-related crimes. Mitnick's pursuit, arrest, trial, and sentence along with the associated journalism, books, and films were all controversial. He now runs the security firm Mitnick Security Consulting, LLC which helps test companies' security strengths, weaknesses, and potential loopholes. He is also the Chief Hacking Officer of the security awareness training company KnowBe4, as well as an active advisory board member at Zimperium, a firm that develops a mobile intrusion prevention system. Mitnick was born in Van Nuys, California on August 6, 1963.
