History
Early life
Tarrlok was born to a prominent family of the Fire Nation. He was raised in a lavish environment. As a young man, he met up with his future wife, Katara, who was from an impoverished background. After years of courtship, they got married. Tarrlok then became a leader in the Fire Nation's military, which is where he met Sokka and Aang. He became a friend of Aang and taught him how to ride a horse. Tarrlok eventually became a commander of the Fire Nation Army, and he joined in the war against the Earth Kingdom. After Zuko's defeat, Tarrlok devised a plan to use the newly discovered Avatar Aang as a weapon in his war against the Earth Kingdom. Tarrlok intended to attack the Earth Kingdom from the sky, with the aid of a dormant bison spirit that he had captured. During the attack, he would shoot down the Avatar and transport him to "Sokka's Island" as a prisoner.
